Post from our Mashpiah, Rabbi JoEllen Duckor
"Only connect." (E.M. Forester)
“For all its frustrations, Jewish community remains a sacred vessel for our shared hopes, yearnings, struggles and fears…Judaism insists, somewhat paradoxically, that we discover our uniqueness and become our best selves, not through solitary contemplation, but by having significant encounters with others and positive experiences as part of a collective. Our personal spiritual journey is enriched when we open ourselves to the journeys and struggles of others. By participating in communal life, an individual takes on responsibility, but paradoxically the burden is also lightened.”
(From our Yom Kippur Machzor by Rabbi Dalia Marx)
The first thing we do during the High Holidays is come together; we stand together before God as a single spiritual unit.
We need each other now. We need each other deeply. We heal one another by being together. We give each other hope. (Rabbi Alan Lew)
